Discovery NotesI collected my soil sample February 6th, 2025, from a flowerbed in my backyard, specifically in Romeoville, IL. The GPS coordinates latitude and longitude: 41.65°N, 88.08°W and decimal degree system: 27.6078, 12.0048. The collection of soil was during the wintertime at around 9pm at night. The soil was almost frozen and the debris such as leaves and sticks were difficult to remove. There were roots of previous flowers present and pieces of snow, dead leaves, sticks, and rocks within this soil site.
Naming NotesI named my phage Ausente because it is my horse's name. Ausente is a Spanish word that directly translates to "Absent" which is further from the truth because Ausente is very present during this phage discovery.
