Discovery NotesThe phage was found in a pot that grew potatoes; the soil was made from a mix of compost and local soil. The site that the phage was collected from is in close proximity to a lake where a lot of wildlife live. The soil was collected 10.6 cm below the surface and was loose and moist. The sample was mailed to me from my father in Arizona then isolated and processed in Virginia.
Naming NotesSince my father sent me the soil, I let him name the phage. I explained to him how phage work and how this phage in particular was very strong and lytic. He then came up with the goofy yet accurate name BBomb. The first part of the name "B" is shortened form of bacteria and the last part of the name "Bomb" is to describe the phage's lytic nature.
