Discovery NotesThis phage was originally isolated by Madison Crew and Samantha Conger. The sample was collected from a compost bin. Madison Crew dug around and took the sample from 10 cm deep.
Naming NotesThe structure of the phage itself resembled a balloon. Our groups favorite TV show was Phineas and Ferb, and there is an episode about Balloony. Doofenshmirtz, the evil villain of the show, drew a face on a balloon as a child and made it his friend. Therefore, Balloony seemed the obvious choice.
