Discovery NotesThe soil sample was collected from outside the horticulture greenhouse. The location is between the back of Barnes and the greenhouse. The second horticulture sample was used to perform enriched isolation. This sample was a soil sample with orange and light brown color. The soil was retrieved from 2-3 inches of depth.
Naming NotesThe phage’s name was inspired by the phage buffer. Basid is the combination of the words base and acid, hence Basid. Since a buffer consists of a weak acid and its conjugate base, Basid combines the two components of the buffer.
