Discovery NotesWe collected the soil sample on Thursday, October 4, 2018. The ambient air temperature at time of collection was 31°C. The location we dug was in a flowerbed outside of the Belcher Center of LeTourneau University. It had a lot of shade and was covered by leaves and mulch. When digging the hole, we hit roots of the surrounding plants. The hole was 7 cm long, 8.5 cm wide, and 13 cm deep. The soil was fairly dark/deep brown and was fairly moist.
Naming NotesWe decided to name our phage "BelcherPhantom" because we had tried very hard to find a phage and finally found one near the Belcher Center of LeTourneau University. The first time we saw the plaques, they were hiding under the label, which is where phantom came from.
