Discovery NotesThe sample was collected in the Health Science Library courtyard of Howard University. The soil sample was collected using a 50 mL conical tube, a plastic spoon, and a ruler. The spoon was used to dig 1.5 centimeters into the ground; 15 mL of soil was collected and capped, labeled with the initials, date, and location, and brought back for the next experiment. The GPS coordinates (38° 55' 10" N, 77° 1' 10" W) and weather (approximately 76 °F) were both recorded as well as the characteristics of the soil sample (dry and grainy).
Naming NotesI named this bacteriophage after my home in New York.
