Discovery NotesIn this project, I attempted to isolate a bacteriophage that infects Gordonia rubripertincta using environmental soil samples. The samples were enriched and tested using spot tests and plaque assays. However, no clear plaques or zones of clearing were observed on the Gordonia rubripertincta plates, indicating that a phage specific to this host was not detected.

Although no plaques were found, DNA extraction was completed and resulted in a concentration of 18.1 ng/µL. Since there was no confirmed phage and plaque formation was unsuccessful, the sample was not archived. This project showed that not all environmental samples lead to phage discovery and emphasized the importance of careful technique and accurate observation, even when results are negative.
Naming NotesI came up with this name because it's my dog's name. As well as symbolling for the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team
