Discovery NotesI collected the soil near the compost bin in my backyard. The soil was dry at the top but as I dug in it loosened up and got moister. I dug around 2-3 inches before retrieving the soil. I collected (around ½ a ziplock bag) of soil. The soil was a very dark brown color. It contained some rocks and roots but is otherwise solid soil.
Naming NotesThe name Castor is the genus name (in Greek) of the word beaver.
