Discovery NotesThis bacteriophage was discovered in dry topsoil located in Waco, Texas. It was specifically taken from Baylor University, located in a cooler location, under bushes. The temperature of the soil was around 80 degrees Celcius, while the air temperature was around 97 degrees Celcius.
Naming NotesCooter is a name I have grown up loving. I would never name a real child Cooter, so I figured I could name my phage it!

Plaque NotesThe plaque clearings were very small. The clearings were never over 1mm in diameter. All plates, even from the very beginning, and throughout the isolation process, looked the same: speckled with tiny clearings. The actual phage is fairly long and thin, with a medium-sized head. The tail slightly bends in certain pictures, but is for the most part fairly straight. Its morphotype is siphoviridea.
