Discovery Notes | The sample was collected in humid, almost muddy soil conditions due to a storm that started on September 3, 2024, at 9:48 p.m., with lightning and thunderstorms. This caused the ground to be completely wet by September 4. The temperature at the time was 81 °F. The sample location was Humacao. The soil contained some grass remnants and dog hair, suggesting the presence of organic matter, ideal for bacterial growth and, therefore, suitable for the phage sample collection. |
Naming Notes | I named the phage Crystalo in honor of my own name, Crystal. I wanted the name to reflect a personal connection to the project and symbolize my dedication and effort in its discovery and analysis. Additionally, Crystalo evokes clarity and precision, qualities I strived for in each stage of my work with the phage. I chose this name so that, in a way, the phage carries a part of me, always reminding me of this unique experience in my scientific journey. |
