Discovery NotesPhage was isolated from the Kilborn Allotment Garden, in a vegetable garden.

Genomic DNA was sequenced on a ONT Minion, R10.4.1 chemistry. The sequence
assembled into one contig of 15,084 bp with 100% query cover, 98.90% identity to Jiminy (B1). The sequence was assembled into a second shorter contig of 6,334 bp with 100.0% query cover, 100.0% identity to MelsMeow (B1). This sequence is incomplete based on the size of other B1 phages.
Naming NotesThe name “Cutelaba” was chosen as a playful combination of “cute” and the Latin suffix “-laba,” derived from labium (meaning lip or edge), referencing the plaque’s distinct rounded margins on the agar plate.

Plaque NotesThe phage consistently produced small, round plaques approximately ~1–2 mm in diameter. Each plaque displayed a subtle bullseye-like appearance, with a slightly darker center and a lighter surrounding zone, but no concentric rings or halo effects. The plaques were slightly turbid, with smooth, well-defined edges, and remained stable in appearance throughout amplification. There was no evidence of spontaneous clear-plaque mutants or mixed morphologies.
