Discovery NotesBacteriophage "DeFlorio" was found in Cullowhee, North Carolina on the campus of Western Carolina University. The main river on campus "Cullowhee Creek" has been known to host other bacteriophages in past years. "DeFlorio" was found a ways down the river under a fallen tree in some wet, grainy dirt.
Naming NotesThe name "DeFlorio" comes from the Italian root word for Flowers or Florists. I found the name fitting, because of the location the phage was found and I personally knew about the meaning of the name, because it is my last name.

Plaque Notes"DeFlorio" had a very nicely sized plaque and were very clear when they pop up on any spot titer or plaque assay. "DeFlorio" was on an average 6 mm in diameter and was in the shape of a Halo. "DeFlorio" kept the constant size and halo shape throughout my time working with it, and it was never hard to spot.
