Naming NotesThe name for this phage is "Desperado". We chose this name because phages encompass the traits of a desperado. The word desperado comes from the Spanish verb, desperar, meaning desperate. In English, desperado is defined as "a bold, reckless criminal". This is much like a phage in which phages are reckless in killing bacteria. The environment where phages reside is unyielding and harsh, so phages take up an outlaw role. Each phage particle survives on its own, ruthlessly killing bacteria for its own benefits.
