| Discovery Notes | The sample was collected around 11:01 AM on August 29th, 2018 the temperature was about 85 degrees fahrenheit, warm and sunny, with winds coming from the southwest at 12 miles per hour, and a humidity of 61%. The sample was collected in a shady area of dirt under a big tree around the Sutherland East Hall door at (40.4456764, -79.9623960). Nearby were smaller trees, as well as plenty of ants and bees on/flying by the dirt. The soil itself was reached by digging into some mulch, and it was uneven with both fine dirt and bigger chunks of dirt and wood. The soil was both moist and dark brown. The soil was stored in a room temperature, dark drawer at 11:20 AM. Left the storage location at around 8:41 AM on August 31 and arrived at the lab at around 10:28 AM. |
| Naming Notes | The round shape of the plaques reminded me of my favorite actor, Danny Devito. In one of his roles he acts as "The Trashman", which is a name that relates to filth, like dirt. |
