Discovery Notes | We discovered a novel bacteriophage. We were able to determine Dirty Snowball is temperate phage. Dirty Snowball is apart of the Myoviridae family. We were unable to determine Dirty Snowball's cluster/sub cluster because we did not have enough DNA to perform a full restriction digestion. We believe Dirty Snowball could be in cluster A, K or Singleton. |
Naming Notes | We named our phage Dirty Snowball because the plaque morphology on the plate looked like a comet. Dirty snowball is a nickname for a comet or an asteroid. |
