Discovery NotesI collected my soil sample with the preferences of soil bacteria in mind (rich, decomposing soil). I chose soil from the base of a rotting tree on Western Kentucky University's campus. I believe the amber color of the enriched isolation indicates that the soil sample I collected was very rich. Since it turned out to be positive for bacteriophage that infect Mycobacterium smegmatis, this assumption was likely correct.
Naming NotesThe color of the filtrate from the enriched isolation of my soil sample yielded an amber color. After doing some researching of names I settled on "Electri", which is Latin for "amber".
