Discovery NotesThe enrichment culture that we isolated this phage from was collected from a sample of dirt we collected from behind the Gonzaga Jesuit residence building.

We collected it in mid January at around 14:00. There was still snow on the ground and we collected the dirt from a flower bed.
Naming Noteswe wanted to name this after a Jaeger from Pacific Rim because, hello have you seen that movie? So awesome, best Saturday night ever like oh my lord.

But due to copyright issues, we could not so we decided on EventHorizon. Our phage was finicky when it came to appearing in plaques or showing up at all in our experiments so we named it after the area of a black hole, black holes of course being invisible to the naked eye.

We thought it was clever.
