Discovery NotesThe soil sample gathered was from a larger soil microcosm. The soil microcosm was in a controlled indoor environment where it was regularly watered, exposed to light, and contained growing plants in the soil. The soil sample was taken by scooping about 1.5 inches deep into the soil surface.
Naming NotesFaden is a German word that translates to "string" or "thread" in English. This name was chosen because of the appearance of the phage's DNA when it was extracted.

Plaque NotesSome of the plaques had a very tiny bullseye morphology in the middle, but most of them were very turbid and cloudy phages. Most of the bullseye morphologies occurred during the first 2 rounds of purification, while after 4 purifications, there were only turbid plaques observed on the plates.
