Discovery NotesCollected soil sample from Old Alton Bridge (33.12904°N, 97.10341°W) south of Denton, Texas. The temperature was 48°F, and the location was on a hiking trail surrounded by trees, and heavily shaded. I dug up about 2cm from the top of the soil wih a clean plastic spoon, and placed the sample in a plastic bag. The soil and area around it was moist and had a mud-like texture.
Naming NotesThe bridge where I found my sample is an old bridge that was used to connect the cities of Denton and Copper Canyon. I chose the name Ferrum, because the bridge was made form iron, and ferrum is iron in latin.
