Discovery NotesThe sample of soil collected for this course was obtained on August 28, 2014 at 10:18 AM from a small area of dirt within a plot of grass by the Johns Hopkins University’s McCoy Dormitory. The temperature was 75 degrees Fahrenheit and the moisture content of the soil, taken from a 1-4 cm depth, was dry and crusty. The coordinates of the position were 39.328927 N latitude and 76.616824 W longitude. The soil was collected with a large metal spoon and placed directly into a plastic zip-lock bag.
