Discovery NotesThe soil for Grackle was sampled about 50 yards from a dog park. The ground was covered in mulch and was dug into about 6 inches until moist. Thought that because people had their dogs around the area, it would be rich with the bacteria carried by them.
Naming NotesI had trouble coming up with a name that I thought fit my phage, and the process my classmates and I went through to get to this point. I chose the name Grackle because I truly couldn't think of another name, and Grackles are my favorite birds. When I mentioned this, I was reminded that Grackles are flock birds. Often they are found hanging with hundreds of family members just like my phage.
