Discovery NotesThe phage was isolated from a soil sample collected on Sept. 16th, 2024, from the side of a stream in Carp, Ottawa, ON. The soil itself was clay-like and waterlogged.
Naming NotesThe name of my phage references an iconic phrase associated with Lewis Hamilton, 7 time Formula 1 World Champion. Hamilton's race engineer, Peter 'Bono' Bonnington, uses the radio message 'it's hammer time' during the race to signal Hamilton to push the car to its limit for the rest of the stint.
Together, they are one of the most successful driver-engineer pairings in Formula 1 history, winning 84 races together to date.
