Discovery NotesSoil was collected on the campus of Saint Joseph's University in Philadelphia, PA on September 9, 2025 at 9:57 AM. The soil was collected in the shade next to a fence and at the base of a maple tree. The ambient temperature was 19 degrees Celsius with a little breeze and it was sunny. The soil was moist as well, and not smooth; it had chunks of soil particles.

Plaques appeared, and phage was discovered after enrichment with enrichment buffer and Mycobacterium smegmatis.
Naming Notes"The Iliad" is a poem by the ancient Greek poet Homer. I'm really intrigued by ancient history, especially that of the greeks and I feel a connection with it as I am Greek myself.
