Discovery NotesThe soil was located directly between a sidewalk and the side of a house. This area used to include a vegetable garden, but no longer does. The soil is very dry as this area is covered by a roof and receives little rain.
Naming NotesOur phage was named after our AP Biology teacher, Mrs. Jillian Whitesell. Because Whitesell is very close to the term "white cell", we decided to name our phage Jilly, a nickname derived from her first name.
