Discovery NotesThe place in which the original soil sample was taken was chosen for two reasons. The first is that area was an old corn field, so there was a lot of dead plant matter that I hypothesized would have no problem developing phages. The second reason is that during the football tailgate people dispose of all kinds of waste in that area, enriching it with multiple types of bacteria, which would give the way to multiple different strands of bacterialphages.
Naming NotesThe reason for naming my phage Junimo is because I wanted to name it after something that I love. One of my favorite video games is Stardew Valley, and Junimos in Stardew are little mythical creatures that help the player complete quests and tend to their farm. So I thought it would be appropriate to name my phage after them. Also, another thing that contributed to the name is that Junimo's have little atenas that remind of capsids on bacterial phages.
