Isolation Temperature | 24°C |
GPS Coordinates | 40.444 N, 79.9589 W Map |
Discovery Notes | The soil was dry and showed no signs of fertility due to the lack of grass and the amount of wooden sticks that littered around the spot of soil collection. The soil was easily sifted and was very dry as the collection did not stick to each other at all. The soil was by no means compact and was surrounded by broken sticks and littered items. The ground was hard and had little to no depth when collecting the soil. Because of this the soil was collected at 2 inches under the ground. The temperature was 75 degrees Fahrenheit at the time of soil collection. |
Naming Notes | I named the phage "Kendyl" because my name is Kendyl. I think the spelling with a "-y" versus the traditional spelling with "-all" is interesting. I also believed that the name would have a high probability of not having been introduced to the phage community. |
Sequencing Information | |
Sequencing Complete? | No |
Sequencing Facility | Pittsburgh Bacteriophage Institute |
Genome length (bp) | Unknown |
Character of genome ends | Unknown |
Fasta file available? | No |

Lysogeny Notes | Possibly lytic due to the clear round borders of the plaques; however lysogen testing was not carried out due to time constrictions. This means that official lysogeny of Phage Kendyl could not be determined, but remains possibly lytic. |
