Discovery NotesThe soil sample I discovered this phage from was from a mix of slightly damp soil and grass. I collected this sample at night, with an ambient temperature of 26C and 91% humidity. Roughly 4.5-5 ML of the damp soil was collected from a depth of about 8-10 cm.
Naming NotesI went through many different name changes during my time doing this lab, all of which were based on roman or greek historical/mythological figures however I hit a wall wherein my plates kept becoming contaminated and I became disillusioned with the whole experiment so I stopped really caring because I believed that my phage was not going to be viable so I changed its name from sisyphus to Diogenes because I had adopted a very cynical view on my work which is when my plates stopped becoming contaminated. Plus Diogenes is just one of my favorite philosophers/historical figures of all time, and I will take any opportunity I can to honor his memory, and kynikoi are what his first followers were known as in ancient greece.

Plaque NotesMy plaques were not very big but there were a lot of them on all my plates. They were lytic plaques, completely wiped out the bacteria wherever they grew.
