Discovery NotesThis soil was taken just beneath fresh compost. It was very moist soil after a heavy rain.
Naming NotesMy phage name originated from the character Anastasia from the animated movie. I really liked her name and decided to put a spin on it.
Sequencing Information

Subcluster--
Lysogeny NotesThis phage only has a lytic cycle because it was tested for lysogen growth and yielded negative results. I took samples of bacteria that were potential lysogens from my spot dilutions and bacteria did grow. However, once these potential lysogens were placed on agar with M.smegmatis there were no plaque results, concluding that there are no lysogens produced by my phage.
Annotating InstitutionUnknown or unassigned
Annotation StatusNot sequenced
Plaque NotesAll plaques have defined edges. There is a range of sizes. There is a 0.5mm diameter turbid plaque, a 0.5mm diameter clear plaque, a 1mm diameter clear plaque, a 1.5mm diameter clear plaque, and a 2mm diameter clear plaque. The reason for the different sizes is most likely due to different start times of growth. Another interesting observation was that after refrigeration, the plaques develop a slight turbid halo.
