Discovery NotesThe location in which this phage was found was in between a scattered group of trees behind the Goessmann Laboratory building. The soil was dry and located near a path, in a fairly shady area.
Naming NotesOur group selected the phage name LilBuddy. The meaning of the name refers to the fact that our phage is fairly miniscule, at approximately 2.75 mm in diameter, and “Lil” is an abbreviation of the word “little”. The second part of the name, “Buddy”, refers to the fact that this phage is very near and dear to our hearts because it is the first species that we have discovered, and therefore, is a buddy to us for having been successful.
