Naming Notes | Phage named after Jim Lovell, commander of the Apollo 13 lunar mission. Phages bear some resemblance to the LM module used to descend to the moon. Lovell's Apollo 13 was the only mission to experience a critical failure forcing an abort of the landing. Lovell successfully returned a crippled ship to Earth from a distance of over 400,000 kilometers from home. |
