Discovery NotesThe original environmental sample was collected on September 20, 2023, from Just Roots Farm in Greenfield Massachusetts. The MICAfarm sample was collected among mosses and weeds under the husk cherry bush, in the farm's pick-your-own field containing vegetables, berries, flowers, and various weeds. Just Roots is an organic farm that likely amended this soil with organic matter, such as compost.
Naming NotesThe first part of the phage name is the first initial of all group members (MICA) and 'farm' was used as a suffix because the phage was found on a farm.
