Discovery NotesThe soil was collected next to my house on College Street, in an area with not much grass other than a few weeds and a gutter. The soil itself was very reddish in color and thin, almost dust like. Some debris. The site experiences a moderate amount of foot traffic and is closer to the backyard parking lot than the road. Purification of the phage occurred through a serial dilution process. It took 5 rounds of purification through serial dilution to see consistent plaque morphology. The titer was low (10^8) in both the 1-plate lysate and 10-plate lysate.
Naming NotesI originally wanted to name this phage RuPaul, who is a drag queen that I admire. That was not available so it is now MamaRu, which is a nickname for RuPaul.
