Naming NotesThe name McNeilReviva comes from a combination of where I found the phage and the process it underwent in the lab. I discovered the plaque outside my dorm room, near McNeil Hall, and the name McNeil reflects that connection. The second part, Reviva, symbolizes how the phage “revived” after my initial attempts to amplify it, but it didn’t work. By adjusting the concentration of my stock sample, I was able to bring it back to life, which felt like a small victory. McNeilReviva represents both the place of discovery and the revival of the phage through persistence and determination.
