Discovery NotesWe isolated our phage from a butterfly garden on the campus of University of the Sciences in Philadelphia. This was a direct isolation. We used several samples of this soil and eventually isolated our phage. The soil was wet with plants growing and butterfly cocoons.
Naming NotesWe named our phage based off of "methusaleh" in the monarch butterfly's journey and life cycle. The "methusaleh generation" heads south for the winter to hibernate.
