Discovery NotesThe sample soil was collected from a Spider plant pot, genus Chlorophytum. This spot was selected mainly due to the richness of the soil and the presence of plant roots which both can be a good source of nutrients for bacteria to grow and strive.
Naming NotesThe name Munsik comes from an old Tagalog word meaning "very tiny organism," which is an appropriate morphological description for a bacteriophage.
