Discovery NotesThe phage was found in a soil sample taken from Mowat Farm Park in Ottawa, Canada, where a reforestation project was underway. Soil was collected by digging 3-5cm below the surface of long grasses, where organic matter was abundant. The ambient temperature was 21 degrees Celsius.

Genomic DNA was sequenced on a ONT Minion, R10.4.1 chemistry using rapid barcoding V14 and PCR amplification. The longest read was 54,614bp with 78% query cover, 88.19% identity to phage ProfFrink (cluster AW). This sequence appears to be nearly complete based on its similarity to ProfFrink (AW) which is a similar length to the longest contig.
Naming NotesThe phage was named Nepean because it was discovered in Mowat Farm park, a park in the Nepean area of Ottawa.
