Naming NotesThe name of the phage originated from the most difficult part of the research process. During the DNA purification step, it was nearly impossible to force the DNA through a column and syringe. For over 20 minutes, we struggled to extract the DNA. The entire time, it felt as if the syringe plunger was breaking our palms. Even after finally forcing the mixture through the column, there were bright red imprints on our palms. Battle scars, as we now call them. Hence the name: PalmBreaker.
