Discovery NotesPastuzo was found at the edge of a creek and foot bridge near the entrance to Middletown Township Memorial Park in Media, PA. The soil sample was collected by Dr. Lee-Soety on Monday, January 17, 2022 at 2:33 PM. The depth of the soil was 4 cm, and the soil conditions were wet. The ambient temperature was 2 °C with 77% humidity. The dew point was -2 °C, and the weather was overcast.

The titer of the MTL is 6.7 x 10^10 pfu/mL. The titer of the HTL is 1.0 x 10^11 pfu/mL.
Naming NotesPastuzo was named for Paddington Bear's Uncle Pastuzo, who sacrificed his life (and his hat) to save the young bear. The plaques were large with a fuzzy halo, similar to the large stature and fuzzy nature of Uncle Pastuzo.
