Discovery NotesThe sample was obtained from the dirt on the side of a walking trail near Sadler Center. It had just rained so the surrounding area was very wet and the samplewas readily squished into pieces. The sample felt more like thickened mud rather than the type of soil that is typically used for growing plants. The depression I made in the dirt to obtain the sample was about two inches deep.
Naming NotesSometimes, my phage plaques would seemingly disappear and then reappear during the plating process at random. That's where the name came from!

When the plate yielded a larger amount of plaques, they were typically small to medium in size. The plaques were almost always clear.
