Discovery NotesThe sample was collected on September 4th, 2024 from the side of a trail at Peffer Park, Miami University.
The ambient temperature was 83℉. The sample consisted of dense, dry soil with some leaves throughout. It was found under a decaying log in a shady area under a layer of leaves.
Naming NotesOur phage donor, Maddie Sharp, collected the sample containing “Peffer” at Peffer Park, one of the natural areas owned by Miami University of Ohio. According to the university’s website, the land originally acquired its name after G. Maurice Peffer, a deceased relative of the man who funded the park’s establishment, Fred C. Yager.
