Discovery NotesThe soil sample used to isolate phage was collected from a ditch located behind my house. The city had just moved the dirt around and cleared the soil to improve water drainage and allow smoother water flow through the area. The soil was moist at the time of collection, likely due to recent irrigation and rain. This freshly exposed environment may have contributed to the presence of diverse microbial populations, aiding in the successful isolation of my phage.
Naming NotesPhaitlynn is a creative version of my own name, Kaitlynn, combined with "phage" to show the connection. Luby was a nickname given to me by my uncle, so including it honors a special family memory.
