Discovery NotesThe soil sample was taken outside the side entrance to Clapp Hall at the University of Pittsburgh next to the sidewalk. The soil was extremely wet and dense after a heavy rain, and it was clumped together like mud. The sample area was relatively free of large rocks and seemed to be of a consistent mixture. The surrounded area was primarily covered with a layer of grass and weeds, and above the soil there was a thin network of roots that protected the soil. There was a fair amount of decaying plant matter present such as leaves. Being in a low point, this area likely collected a lot of moisture and nutrients while also being in a location that experiences a lot of direct sunlight. The air was quite humid and warm.
Naming NotesMy phage is named "PharmD", because I intend on becoming a PharmD when I graduate. I plan to go to the University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy.
