Discovery Notes | -Collected on October 1, 2019 -Dug approximately 4.49 cm into the soil -The sample came from the sidewalk area across from the volleyball court in front of Bentley Hall, a residence hall on Drexel's campus (found to the the left of the court when facing Bentley Hall) Specifically, there is a point where the sidewalks converge at an angle less than 90 degrees, and there is an area of soil between the pavement. The area dug from had a lot of rocks, and the grass was about 1 foot away. The Bentley Hall address is 3301 Arch Street, Philadelphia, PA 19104 . |
Naming Notes | The phage gave us a lot of uncertainty--it began as a single one on the Direct Isolation that was not a definite spot. Throughout the weeks we had difficulty achieving webbed plates, and in the end, the plaque morphology changed into a very small, pin-like shape. Therefore, our phage had a lot difficulties as it kept on phasing in and out, so we named it Phazer. |

Plaque Notes | The average plaque morphology was about 1 mm, and it was lytic with turbid edges. However, there was a slight variability in sizes, but ultimately it ranged from 0.5 to 1.5 mm. Also, at the end, the morphology changed into a pin-like morphology that was so small we could not measure it. |
