Discovery Notes | The sample was collected on 10/5/17 around 1 PM. The soil was found at a depth of 3 inches. The approximate temperature was 80 degrees Celsius. The sample was collected behind the Papadakis Integrated Sciences Building of Drexel University. |
Naming Notes | The phage name came from simply integrating my two favorite animals: giraffe and turtle which makes "gurtle". The idea of "phertile" came because I was attempting to incorporate the "ph" in "phage". Fertile spelled with a ph gave "phertile". The name is ironic because giraffe and turtles cannot physically mate and if they did, they probably would not produce fertile offspring. |
