Discovery NotesOur phage was found in a flower bed in Longview, Texas. The top layer of the flower bed was a loose mulch. We collected our sample about 1.5 inches underneath the top layer of mulch. The soil was dark and slightly damp. There were bushes immediately next to the site of our dig which provided shade.
Naming NotesThe first part of the name for our virus - "Phickle" - is due to the fact that this was our fourth attempt at isolating a virus. Our virus was very fickle during the isolation process. The second part of the name - "Rick" - was inspired by our favorite scientist whose name is Rick Sanchez. Thus, we combined the two into one name: Phickle Rick.
