Discovery NotesPier12 was extracted from soil gathered outside the Cathedral of Learning on the University of Pittsburgh's campus. I collected the soil from a small flowerbed that contained dark, fertile soil and a great deal of vegetation. It was around 1:15 p.m. in the afternoon, and it was about 70 degrees Fahrenheit. The weather was overcast after a rain shower earlier in the day.
Naming NotesThis phage name came from a street name in South Oakland.

Plaque NotesPier12's plaques were relatively small in comparison to other plaques, about 2 mm in diameter. They could be described as temperate plaques due to the clear center and murky outer ring. These "halo" plaques were the types of plaques I observed from my phage's plates.
