Discovery NotesThis phage was found in the soil underneath a large bush in The Little Chapel on Winthrop University's campus. The sample was taken at an ambient temperature of 30.6 degrees Centigrade, 3.8 centimeters into the soil. The soil was free of debris, nor was it clay. The area was shaded, seemed fairly moist considering the surroundings and lack of rain, and it seemed to lack any potential hindrances, such as fertilizers.
Naming NotesThis name comes from my childhood. It reminds me of when I was younger and my family would go to the beach. I would spend lots of time digging in the sand, hoping to find little creatures there. This project heavily reminds me of that, so I wanted to capture both the reminder of the beach, with "wave", and the nostalgic factor with "retro".

Plaque NotesIn the dilution plate my phage was selected from, it was one of the larger specimens, measuring 1 centimeter in diameter. It appeared to clear through the host bacteria, mycobacterium smegmatis mc^2155, quite quickly.
