Discovery NotesFound soil along Boulder Creek, which runs directly South of Scott Carpenter Park. The soil was discovered at 9:00 pm just above the waterline. The soil itself was comprised of brush roots and hard-packed dirt.
Naming NotesThe name came from the inspiration of the rainbow's abbreviation: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet. We were inspired by our chemistry background, which often refers to the visible light spectrum, such as that described above.

Plaque NotesThe bacteriophage we isolated was that of a Siphoviridae, temperate morphology. The plaques isolated were turbid, with a clear center, and had halo-like outer edges around 3mm in diameter. Based on this, we were able to determine that our phage was temperate, in both lytic and lysogenic lifecycles.
