Discovery NotesThe soil sample comes from the top of an overlook of a pond that connects in my neighborhood in Naperville, IL. I personally, along with many others, have spent a lot of time at this specific spot to fish as it has the high ground over the pond. This spot could be great for microbial diversity since a lot of fish from the pond have been caught at that specific spot and remnants of microbes from the fish could have the possibility of residing within the soil as well, which would be important to filter out. Upon arriving at the spot, the surface level soil was very very dry which I used a digger to break into. I dug 2-3 inches before extracting about a ½ pound of soil. The soil seemed to be absent of any visible big rocks and consisted of pure soil and very small rocks.
Naming NotesThe reason I chose my phage name, Shadison, is because my name is shadi and I regard this phage as the closest thing to my son.

Plaque NotesPlaque diameter: 2mm
Plaque radius: 1mm

The smooth, clear, uncontaminated plate consisted of a plethora of lytic plaques, which varied very little in size with a diameter of 2mm (millimeter) and a radius of 1mm (millimeter). The phage was deemed lytic as the plaques were clear on the plate. The phage took two rounds of purification, as a third round was not necessary since there were a plethora of clone plaques present after the second round of purification.
