Discovery Notes | My phage was collected from a mixture of dry and moist soil samples obtained from the front yard of my parents home in Durban. It is the "puppy friendly" spot marked by a huge tree in the center and a remarkably pungent chemical and geosmin scent combination. |
Naming Notes | The phage is named after my adorable pekingese x maltese puppy (9 years old) "Shenzi". The location of my phages origin primarily belongs to my puppy so it is only fitting that it should be named as such. He deserves the fame, in my book. |
